The full line-up is now confirmed and includes some of the continent’s most hotly touted bands, including Mitú and Melim, and guest appearances by international Midem success stories, Far From Alaska and Adango.
Midem Director, Alexandre Deniot, can’t wait to see these promising talent on the stage, he says, “I’m so excited to hear such talented artists perform in Rio. These acts represent the new generation of talent in the continent, especially Mitú, Far From Alaska and Melim. They all reflect different genres and sounds, and showcase the incredible creativity and richness of Latin America’s music scenes.”
Showcasing The Region’s Exciting Emerging Talent
Named Colombia’s Best Electronic Act and recently hand-picked by iconic British band New Order to open their show in London, Mitú is a “Psychedelic Techno From The Jungle” live duo.  With Julián Salazar on synthesisers, machines and percussions and Franklin Tejedor, (lead guitarist with Bomba Estéreo for 10 years), Mitú have performed all over Latin America, Europe and the US. They have brought their unique sound to global festival stages, from Lollapalooza, to NRMAL Mexico, and Transmusicales in Rennes, France, among many others.
One the brightest rising stars on the Brazilian music scene, Melim is a trio of siblings, discovered during Rede Globo’s Superstar. Not only great performers, they are also songwriters. Having written tracks for Brazilian superstars Ivete Sangalo, Luan Santana, the duo Jorge e Mateus, they were recently nominated for a Grammy for the song “Eu Juro,” for the singer Ferrugem.
Guest Appearances: Midem International Success Stories
Far From Alaska: From Cannes to Rio thanks to the Midem Artist Accelerator
Brazilian band, Far From Alaska, was a finalist of the Midem Artist Accelerator programme in 2016. The same year, they received the “We are the future” Award during the Midem International Awards in Cannes, France.  The act has toured internationally and performed at many leading festivals, including Download Festival and Lollapalloza.
Far From Alaska says: “We are very glad to perform at the first Midem Latin American Forum. We also performed at the first Midem Artist Accelerator a few years ago in Cannes and it was a major boost for our career. To be invited to perform again and this time in our home country is an honour and a pleasure and also means we are doing our homework right!”
Now celebrating its 5th edition, the Midem Artist Accelerator is a career-boosting programme for emerging talent. It offers a fantastic opportunity to discover and help promising new talent to elevate their career to a truly global level. This unique initiative brings together 11 international emerging artists, who are selected by an elite Artistic Committee. Invited to play live on Midem’s main open-air stage in Cannes, they also benefit from a tailored professional programme onsite, including entry to selected conferences, coaching sessions with industry mentors and networking opportunities with key players from the global music community.
Adango: From Africa to Rio thanks to the High Potential Markets Programme
Adango is an emerging artist from Cameroon and an exemplary Midem success story.  Discovered during the Midem African Tour in Congo-Brazzaville, she performed in Cannes during Midem by Night, where she met Brazilian artist Joyce Cândido. An inspiring cross-continental tale of a global talent radar that has brought two talented musicians together in true artistic collaboration.
